SMS attorneys-at-law 5 years!

Small Murray Scheper, attorneys-at-law, reached its five years existence last September 2007. Our law office grew from three lawyers and two staff support employees to a law office with eight lawyers - of whom one is also a tax lawyer – and six staff support employees. As of recent the day to day management is not only being performed by the three name-partners but also by a managing director. With the appointing of a managing director we have again set a significant step in our continuous strive of further professionalizing of our office with primary goal to keep on serving high quality of legal assistance to our clients. In as such we can count among our client relations the central- and island government, banks, insurance company’s, hotels, governmental owned company’s and foundations and apart from that privately owned corporations and private individuals. In these five years of the existence we have set far-reaching specialization of our office in company and corporate law, bank- and financial law, labor law, construction law, administrative law and criminal law and with those specializations having build a name that is considered reliable.

Our law office remains closely involved with the Antillean community. As such we are the main sponsor of SMS Endurance Team, an association of enthusiastic young mountain bikers who have several times already earned prizes in competition. We also regularly act as sponsor of events organized by Teatro Luna Blou and further behind the scenes where our assistance might be of need.

With the celebration of our five year anniversary we also celebrate as per establishment of our office our association with Spong Advocaten, the law offices of Gerard Spong and Oscar Hammerstein in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Next to that we are as of January 1st, 2006 the proud members of MSI legal & Accounting Network Worldwide, a network of independent professional firms, who provide services to clientele world wide from separate practices. Form each jurisdiction a law firm is allowed to enter as a member to this network. Due to our membership with MSI we can refer our clients in respect to their international interests in an easy way to lawyers and accountants in the rest of the world, while we keep a finger on the pulse. By participating in the congresses of MSI we know most of the members on a personal level which simplifies such referrals.

During the five years of our existence our practice consisted mainly of the Netherlands Antilles and Aruba while now more and more requests for our expertise arise from international clientele, particularly from Suriname. From our office at the Oude Hofstraat in Paramaribo, Suriname, located on walking distance from the Court of Appeals, we will provide our Surinamese clientele with legal advice.
